The EPIC II Microscope has been a very popular microscope for use in Africa, being used in well over 20 countries. Originally the EPIC Microscope was built for MSICS or SICS surgery which is likely the most common cataract technique in Africa. However, doctors have been using the EPIC II Microscope for phacoemulsification as well with or without our latest fine focus module.
Dr Elena Barraquer, receipient of the 2025 Chang Crandall Humanitarian Award this year at ASCRS spoke to us in Los Angeles about her experience with the EPIC II Microscope, which is used by the Elena Barraquer Foundation in Africa.
